Rescue Me ID: 11-08-12-00092Luke Skywalker (male)

Norwegian Elkhound    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Luke is a beautiful Norweigian Elkhound puppy (8 mo). He is a good-natured dog with a sweet personality. He is house-broken; he is comfortable with a lease and behaves fairly well on walks already. We took him from another family that kept him in a crate almost all day, but we don't have a fenced yard - even if we did, our yard is very small and doesn't allow him enough room to run/exercise - and he's too large to be an indoor dog. He really would make someoene the BEST companion, though, and is very smart/trainable. In just a few days, we taught him several tricks and have begun working on leash obedience. If you've been wanting a dog ... (Read More)like this, Luke would be ideal! (Less)

Norwegian Elkhounds date back thousands of years B.C. and were used by cavemen for hunting. In Norway, all privately owned Elkhounds can be appropriated by the Minister of Defense for military use if the nation goes to war. Elkhounds can hunt better at night than in the daytime.
